Henry Beesmeyer was a supporting character on the sitcom Alice, played by veteran character actor Marvin Kaplan

About Henry[]

The bespectacled Henry worked as a lineman for the Bell Telephone Company, (presumably the former Mountain Bell) in Phoenix, Arizona.  He was one of the most regular customers of Mel's Diner.  He would always be spending time there eating whatever meal it was, although he often complained about Mel's often substandard cooking.

When he wasn't complaining about Mel's food, Henry would always complain about his usually never-seen wife, Chloe Beesmeyer. Henry's wife Chloe was only seen once, played by special guest star Ruth Buzzi in the Season 5 episode "Henry's Bitter Half" (episode #9, #105 overall), and she thought that Henry and Alice were having an affair, but it was revealed that wasn't the case

Henry got along wonderfully with everyone at the diner, and he often considered them as extensions of his own family.  When Florence Jean Castleberry was moving to Houston, his gift at her farewell party was the Houston telephone book with all the singles bars highlighted, which the swinging and fun-loving Flo, approved of.
